Project details

We all know the free market operates on the principle of supply and demand and the electricity market is no different – electricity prices are lower in times of high production levels of wind and solar power – which cannot be stored. In the past, households have been unable to benefit from this low-priced electricity.

The innovative PEAKapp ecosystem (application) enables energy retailers to forward low-price, green, low-carbon energy from the spot market to households. By using the PEAKapp, they learn how to adapt their energy consumption behaviour and how to actively participate in the electricity market to benefit from monetary savings.

Led by EI-JKU – Energieinstitut an der Johannes Kepler Universität Linz (EI-JKU), PEAKapp consists of balanced team of complementary organizations including electricity retailers, an electricity branch association, two software developers, highly specialized research and innovation centers and universities. Between them, there is strong expertise in the fields of smart metering, smart grid, software development, business development and behavioral science to collectively tackle the challenge of developing of smart services to better utilise electricity from renewable sources.

RTDS lead the Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication (DEC) work package.
