UNTWIST consortium gathered together from 9-12 May in Bologna, for the 8th General Assembly meeting. Hosted in the facilities of DISTAL UNIBO, partners discussed the progress of the project and made plans towards the Period 3.
The first day of the meeting started with a welcoming coffee, and after the necessary introduction, partners presented the progress of the technical WPs 1-6. Main focus was given in the development of the Camelia focus lines in the corresponding countries (France, Italy, Spain, UK). In the second part of the day, partners discussed about the progress of the data modelling activities and the building of the Knowledge Hub. Partners had also the chance to visit the lab facilities and the greenhouses of UNIBO.
During the second day, partners visited the UNIBO camelina fields and had the chance to see the growth of the camelina crops, despite the bad weather. In the framework of joint activities with other EU-funded projects, Andrea Monti from UNIBO presented 2 H2020-funded projects 4CE-MED and CARINA and one national (Italian funded) project called ARGENTO. A workshop about IP & Exploitation activities took place at the end of the second day. Partners discussed about the project results (Hub, Data and prediction models, Plant varieties etc.) and potential exploitation through data storage and curation, research infrastructures, taxonomies and ontologies. Focus was also given to registration of plant varieties and funding for registration fees. Last part of the workshop was on policy briefs and potential services for clients.
The meeting in Bologna provided partners an excellent opportunity to discuss about future publication of the project results and to plan dissemination activities for Period 3 of UNTWIST. Among other social activities, UNTWIST partners had the chance to taste camelina oil and camelina honey, produced by the project partner in INRAe Versailles and UNIBO.
